Nielson DMAs

This is an interactive map depicting the percentage of cable TV subscribers across the United States. When I created this map, I was working in advertising, and a common geography we often had data for was Nielson Designated Marketing Areas (DMAs). This is what you see depicted in the map here. (Hence why you may have been thinking that this map of the United States looked awfully funny; the are not your standard state boundaries, but the aforementioned Nielson DMAs.) Surprisingly, my agency did not have a shapefile for DMAs. So, I took some initiative and created this one, using a map of U.S. counties from the census bureau since DMAs are simply collections of county jurisdictions (with a few minor exceptions). With the new geographic file, I then was able to tie data we had on hand from Nielson DMAs with a multitude of other datasets corresponding to state and county boundaries.
